Renaming of “Scout” Statue

Today CBC News ran a story by reporter Waubgeshig Rice about the renaming of the statue of an Aboriginal man now located in Major’s Hill Park in Ottawa, and formerly located below the statue of Samuel de Champlain on Nepean Point. Heretofore referred to as an unnamed “Scout,” the statue has now been named by Algonquin elder Annie Smith St. Georges, and an art collective is attempting to have the National Capital Commission recognize the new name on a plaque.  To watch this television report on the CBC website, follow this link.
